Over 4,000 students attended the first ever flagship careers event. The day-long careers fair combined a festival-style atmosphere with silent disco-style careers talks, VR headset experiences and hands-on workshops with over 100 local businesses.
Age UK Doncaster, Boxes and Packaging and Cementation Skanska opened their doors to students and members of the wider community to offer insights into the range of career opportunities available in their industries.
After months of hard work, we finally launched the Made it in Doncaster project. The video series tells the stories of inspirational people who have lived or worked in Doncaster, and can be used as part of careers-related education in the curriculum. Resources include assembly and follow-up lesson plans.
Over 60 businesses attended the first Engage and Inspire Your Future Workforce event. The morning was jam-packed with insightful workshops from Doncaster’s Cornerstone Employers who offered insight and guidance on how they engage with the Doncaster Promise and work with Doncaster's young people. Huge thank you to the volunteers from Go Green, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, Hitachi Rail, Doncaster Council, Keepmoat Homes and DCLT for leading the way and preparing young people to become work-ready!
Opportunities Doncaster LIVE was the venue for both the Doncaster Innovation Challenge and Doncaster Enterprise Challenge finals. Judges were blown away by the ideas, confidence and enthusiasm of all the students who presented. Congratulations to the winning students from Campsmount Academy, The Laurel Academy and The Hayfield School!
