New research shows that teaching careers-related education in primary schools creates opportunities for pupils to self-discover and to rule out stereotypes and misconceptions around gender, social class and intelligence. This has a lasting impact on personal development, perceptions of careers and a better understanding about what studying different subjects can lead to.
The careers space in Doncaster is going through some exciting changes. All our secondary schools are engaged with initiatives like Opportunities Doncaster and the Doncaster Careers Hub. They're providing their students with career-related learning, teaching them employability skills and offering high-quality employer encounters with local business.
Opportunities Doncaster has developed the Made it in Doncaster project to help primary and secondary schools enhance their careers programme.
